Spring 2025 Homework

Homework for April 10, 2025:  Do these worksheets  (page 2) to label clothing.  study vocabulary.  You now have reading vocabulary to study too -- green & blue vocabulary or red & blue vocabulary

Today, we practiced using Color Vowel to pronounce our names.  Every color is one vowel sound.

Homework for April 9, 2025: Write an email about your goals, and send it to me at Pimteacherlaurie@gmail.com.  You can write something similar to the partner dictations we did at the end of class. 

Also, study vocabulary.  

Bonus: Study the parts of speech. and simple present tense

4-6  Today, we got to know each other using simple present questions.  We practiced when to use "Do" and when to use "Are" in simple present questions.  We practiced using base form verbs with Do.  (NO S!)  We also practiced saying want to _____(base verb) and wants to ______(base verb)

I introduced some learning tools:  parts of speech (nouns and verbs)  and the Color Vowel system.  I use color vowel to teach pronunciation.  There is one color for every vowel sound.  (Vowel sounds are made by your voice, but not with your lips or tongue.) 

 Homework for April 8, 2025:  Study vocabulary.  If you didn't finish any papers from today's class, please finish them to give to me.  I didn't collect this page, but I want you to do it. I'll probably give you time in class because I didn't ask you to do it.

My name is Laurie Scheible.  I am from Northern Virginia. When I was a child, I lived in Colorado.  I like to talk and dance. I often watch movies with my mother. I like to spend time with my family.

Who did you meet today? I met many new students.  A few students from a long time ago came back.

 Can you describe a classmate that you met today? Claribel has blond curly hair. She is a little taller than I am.  She's outgoing with a beautiful smile.

 What do you want me to know about you?  I want to work with you to make the class good for you.  I want you to help your classmates. I don't want you to translate quickly for anyone.  At my level, most people need time to think before they can reply.

Do you have a favorite website or app for learning English?  

I started using Duolingo a long time ago because I had a student that didn't understand grammar speak with good grammar after practicing Duolingo.  Many people use Duolingo, but I've only had 3 students really improve a LOT with Duolingo.  I think it's good to read out loud while you play.

4-7-2025  Today, we used English to get to know our classmates.  We did a dialog.  We interviewed one classmate.  We did line dialogs to talk to half the class. I talked about the class.  Please come, help me make it fun, and try to schedule a minimum of 20 minutes to do homework.    We wrote small goals.
